January 2017- Going ‘Live’
My New Years resolution (for 2016!) was to get my website up and running- I almost made it but here I go.
It’s a bit odd, figuring out what to say when going ‘live’ with a website documenting something I’ve been working on for over 30 years. Where to start- clearly not at the beginning?
These works represent a lengthy process from concept, design and engineering, assembly and finally the painting itself. I call all of them Studies because in fact, each is a further evolution of the previous ones. All are 3 dimensional and until now, mounted flat on a wall. Study 15: Hannah however is completely free standing and one can move all around it. For this piece I’ve drawn inspiration from Marcel Duchamp, Eadweard Muybridge, Frank Gehry and my friends at Research Casting International.
Following this post are three short videos about recent works, then there are a series of posts showing the stages of work on Hannah- the clip above is the final assembly of all the parts.
Finally, I’d like to thank Erica Shannon for creating my website. She is smart, talented and really terrific to work with. Thank you Erica!
